President Masoud Pezeshkian underscored that expanding relations with neighboring and like-minded countries remains one of Iran’s strategic priorities, noting that during his visits to Armenia and Belarus, significant memorandums of understanding and agreements will be signed.
Before departing for Yerevan, Armenia, Pezeshkian outlined the goals of the two-leg trip in Tehran on Monday, stressing that it aligns with Iran’s long-standing efforts, reaffirmed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to strengthen ties with neighboring states.
According to the president, the trip is expected to open new horizons for creating favorable economic and social opportunities in Iran and contribute to the progress and advancement of the nation.
Highlighting Armenia as a long-standing friend and strategic partner in political, economic, cultural, and social fields, Pezeshkian noted that both sides have worked to maintain relations at the highest level, with multiple agreements already in place to facilitate cooperation.
The president identified the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) as a key topic of discussion, offering new opportunities for joint development, while also addressing the East–West route as a means to expand regional trade flows.
He also expressed concern over the presence of US companies in the region, citing past cases where their activities concealed disruptive actions, adding that this issue would be addressed seriously during the talks.
Pezeshkian further referred to agreements prepared for signing in technical, engineering, construction, mining, cultural, and social fields, stating they would significantly boost cooperation.
He noted that Iran’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) also presents fresh opportunities for economic development.
Turning to Belarus, the president said bilateral relations have expanded considerably in recent years across social, economic, cultural, and scientific sectors.
He expressed hope that cooperation in technology transfer, agriculture, industry, and social affairs would accelerate further.
The president also praised Belarus for its firm support of Iran in international forums, particularly in condemning Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic and the regime’s atrocities in Gaza.
