President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran’s recent agreement was the outcome of extensive consultations among military, security, executive, legislative and judicial officials, stressing that national unity and sound decision-making can prevent any foreign power from forcing the country into submission.
Speaking at a ceremony marking a renewed pledge to the ideals of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Imam Khomeini, President Pezeshkian said Iran had faced a combination of war, sanctions, political pressure and assassinations since his administration took office. He added that the government had simultaneously inherited major imbalances in water, electricity, gas, fuel, the environment and the banking sector.
The president said adversaries had expected mounting pressure to destabilize Iran and believed the country would eventually collapse. Instead, he argued, the Iranian people demonstrated resilience and solidarity that surprised world nations. He described Iranians’ response to the recent conflict as a major national achievement.
President Pezeshkian said Iran was facing an all-out economic, military and security war, noting that enemies had openly threatened to impose unprecedented sanctions on the country. He also said that the enemies are pressuring other countries, including Muslim states, to restrict economic dealings with Iran in an effort to force Tehran into submission.
According to the president, the recent memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington was not the product of an individual decision but emerged from lengthy discussions among those directly involved in defending, governing and securing the Islamic country. He said the framework was based on dignity, wisdom and national interests, and urged all parties to respect the collective decision.
President Pezeshkian maintained that unity had been crucial during the confrontation, saying even citizens who had disagreements with the government rallied around Iran’s territorial integrity and national dignity. He argued that the adversaries’ expectation of internal unrest had not materialized, as the public instead demonstrated cohesion.
The president also emphasized the need for international economic resilience, saying the government was working to contain inflation, address livelihood concerns and protect the country from the effects of external pressure. He called for broader participation by government institutions, businesses, workers and society in overcoming the economic challenges.
President Pezeshkian praised Iran’s armed forces, including the Army, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Basij and law enforcement forces, for maintaining their positions despite the risks involved. He also thanked citizens for their continued support during what he described as an extended period of confrontation.
Concluding his remarks, President Pezeshkian said Iran’s strength depended on unity, solidarity, consultation and informed policymaking. He added that collective commitment to decisions and national unity would prevent any power from forcing the Iranian nation into surrender, stressing that Iran would continue its course with dignity, strength and national pride.
