Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon, saying it is one of the vital conditions of Iran’s 10‑point plan, while highlighting France’s important role as a guarantor of the previous ceasefire in the Arab country.

Ceasefire in Lebanon a key condition of Iran’s 10‑point plan: President Pezeshkian

President Pezeshkian and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation to discuss regional developments following the halt in US and Israeli military aggression against Iran and the recent declaration of a ceasefire.

The Iranian president reiterated Iran’s firm commitment to establishing peace and stability across the region, saying Tehran’s acceptance of the ceasefire demonstrates its responsible and determined approach to resolving conflicts through diplomacy.

President Pezeshkian criticized the lack of a clear and firm stance by European countries in condemning atrocities committed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.

He urged Europe to play a more responsible role in supporting regional stability and in pressing Washington and Tel Aviv to fulfill their commitments and prevent further violations.

Referring to the imposed insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, President Pezeshkian said it stems directly from US and Israeli aggression, adding that Iran continues to safeguard navigation in the vital waterway in line with international law and national interests.

President Macron thanked Iran for releasing two French citizens and described the announced ceasefire as an important step toward ending the war and establishing lasting peace in the region.

He also stressed the urgent need to halt hostilities in Lebanon and reaffirmed France’s readiness to cooperate in international efforts to promote peace and stability in the Persian Gulf.
