Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the US and Israeli aggression on Iran’s infrastructure and the assassination of Iranian officials and prominent figures by aggressors demonstrate that they cannot be trusted.

Infrastructure attacks, assassinations expose aggressors’ unreliability: President Pezeshkian

In a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Pezeshkian thanked Islamabad for its mediation efforts aimed at stopping the aggression against the Islamic Republic. He also noted that Iran had twice been targeted by military attacks while engaged in dialogue and diplomacy during nuclear negotiations.

The president added that despite claims by US officials that economic and energy infrastructure would not be attacked, such facilities have been targeted, stressing that these contradictory statements and actions have further deepened Iran’s distrust of the United States.

The Iranian president also expressed regret that the territory of some Muslim countries had been used in attacks against Iran, stressing that Tehran’s response to the sources of these attacks was a natural act of defense. He warned that the Israeli regime seeks to expand the conflict across the region and urged Muslim nations to prevent their territories from being used against other Muslim countries.

The Pakistani prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled position condemning military aggression against Iran, particularly the recent Israeli strikes on economic infrastructure in the cities of Ahvaz and Isfahan. He emphasized Pakistan’s full solidarity with the Iranian government and people.

Prime Minister Sharif also thanked Iranian authorities for facilitating the safe passage of commercial vessels, including those from Pakistan, through the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that meaningful dialogue requires trust and mutual respect, adding that military attacks and the killing of Iranian officials and civilians must stop.

The Pakistani prime minister also expressed hope to visit Tehran once tensions subside.
