President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s firm commitment to safeguarding regional stability and security and countering foreign interference, reaffirming that Tehran continues to seek the expansion of intra regional cooperation with neighboring countries.
The Iranian president made the remarks during a phone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, when the two sides discussed regional developments and the impact of ongoing US and Israeli aggression on regional security.
President Pezeshkian said Iran remains committed to safeguarding regional stability and security and opposes foreign interference in regional affairs.
The president stated that Iran had not initiated any conflict and described recent attacks on Iranian territory, carried out during nuclear negotiations, as unlawful, resulting in the martyrdom of senior officials and civilians. He emphasized that defending Iran’s territory is its legitimate right.
President Pezeshkian also highlighted Iran’s desire to expand regional cooperation, particularly with neighboring countries, and called on Islamic governments to prevent the use of their territories for attacks against Iran. He warned that enabling such actions could widen conflict and insecurity in the region.
Addressing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, he said current instability is a direct result of foreign military actions, but noted that Iran has taken measures to ensure safe passage for vessels not linked to the parties involved in the aggression.
Prime Minister Sharif offered condolences for recent Iranian casualties and expressed appreciation for Iran’s facilitation of safe passage for Pakistani vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran and called for collective regional efforts, especially among Muslim nations, to reduce tensions and restore lasting peace and stability.
