President Masoud Pezeshkian said allowing foreign forces to use regional territories and facilities to launch attacks against Iran contradicts international law and the principle of good neighborliness.

Providing territory for attacks on Iran violates international law, good neighborliness: President Pezeshkian

During a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday, President Pezeshkian outlined the dimensions of recent “illegal aggression” by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran. He said the attacks have continued against various targets, including civilian sites.

The Iranian president referred to recent strikes on the Iranian islands of Khark and Abu Musa, saying the operations were carried out using the territory of some Persian Gulf countries.

Providing land and facilities to the United States for savage attacks on Iran is in clear contradiction with international law and the principle of good neighborliness, he said.

Pezeshkian stressed that the Iranian people, government, and armed forces have never sought tension or conflict, but will not hesitate to confront aggressors and defend the country’s territorial integrity and national security. He added that Iran’s response would rely on popular support and national capabilities.

The president blamed hostile actions by the Israeli regime and the United States for insecurity and instability in the region, citing the war in Gaza and Lebanon and two wars against Iran involving Washington.

He also criticized certain European countries for supporting the Israeli regime and the United States and called on them to adhere to international law.

President Macron, for his part, emphasized the need to end the war and reduce tensions, voicing concern over developments in the region, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and clashes between Hezbollah and Israel.

The two presidents also discussed consular issues, including prisoners held by both countries.
