President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday reaffirmed Africa’s strategic priority in Iran’s foreign policy, stating that Tehran is committed to deepening multifaceted cooperation with the continent through balanced diplomacy.
In a meeting with Burkina Faso’s Defense Minister, Celestin Simpore, President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s approach to Africa is long-term and based on mutual benefits. He expressed Tehran’s full readiness to transfer technical expertise and knowledge in scientific, industrial, and defense sectors to Burkina Faso.
The Iranian president also lauded Burkina Faso’s spirit of independence and its anti-hegemonic stance, expressing confidence in the nation’s victory against terrorism.
For his part, Simpore praised the Iranian people’s decades-long resistance against international pressure and sanctions. He described Iran’s defense and technological achievements as a symbol of strategic self-reliance.
Highlighting Burkina Faso’s decade-long struggle with instability, Simpore noted that his country draws inspiration from Iran’s experience.
He stressed that sovereignty is not granted but earned through national will and resistance against global powers seeking to maintain dependency.
