In an address during a cabinet meeting on Sunday, President Pezeshkian declared that the welfare of citizens should be the top priority, overshadowing all ongoing projects and initiatives.
He called for a heightened awareness and responsibility in decision-making, asserting that every action taken by the administration should prioritize the improvement of public well-being.
The president criticized the drafting of inflationary laws that adversely affect low-income individuals. He questioned why regulations that harm the economic stability of vulnerable populations are being ratified, reiterating that any such measures must be swiftly amended.
During the meeting, various ministers presented reports on their departments' challenges. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Sattar Hashemi discussed advancements in the Digital Government Ecosystem, highlighting efforts to modernize and align government systems with global standards.
Additionally, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi provided an update on Iran's diplomatic strategies to combat sanctions and strengthen trilateral cooperation with China and Russia. Araghchi noted the supportive stance from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which includes 121 member countries, reinforcing Iran's position against unilateral European actions.
Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Mohamad-Reza Farzin also reported on the economic ramifications of the snapback mechanism and the necessity of activating domestic frameworks to address challenges related to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He emphasized the importance of capitalizing on recent legislative approvals to enhance Iran's financial interactions globally.
