Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan as productive, saying his meetings and consultations with regional heads of state helped advance regional cooperation and bilateral relations.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 26th SCO summit on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian said Iran had presented its positions on regional developments and challenges, as well as the responsibilities of the organization and its member states, during both the SCO summit and the SCO Plus meeting.
He said all SCO member states, without exception, described the US-Israeli aggression against Iran as unacceptable in the summit’s final declaration, condemned the aggressors and emphasized the need to respect countries’ territorial integrity.
President Pezeshkian added that SCO members had also offered condolences to the Iranian people over the assassination of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, expressed sympathy with the Iranian nation and stressed the need for efforts to establish peace and tranquility in the region.
Regarding his bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit, the Iranian president said he held direct talks with several heads of state, including the leaders of India, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
He also described his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as productive, adding that he held discussions with senior officials and representatives from several other countries on the sidelines of the gathering.
He said expanding economic, social and political relations was another major topic discussed during the meetings, describing the consultations as highly effective and constructive.
President Pezeshkian said all sides had pledged to help Iran overcome existing challenges, while the Islamic Republic would also assist the participating countries, stressing that mutual cooperation could contribute to establishing peace and security across the region.
Concluding his remarks, President Pezeshkian described the summit as highly productive and expressed hope that the Iranian people would soon see tangible results from the meetings and consultations held during the visit.
