President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in the serious fight against border insecurity.
During a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Pezeshkian highlighted Pakistan's significance as an important strategic neighbor for Iran, noting the two nations' long history of cultural and civilizational coexistence.
He referred to ongoing negotiations between the two sides, stating that both parties underscored the necessity of expanding political, economic, cultural, and international collaboration, as well as the implementation of previously reached agreements.
According to President Pezeshkian, Iran and Pakistan share common positions on various regional, international, and Islamic issues. He stressed the importance of eliminating insecurity and terrorist presence, asserting that both Tehran and Islamabad are committed to enhancing security and combating elements that threaten stability in border areas.
He further highlighted the significance of maintaining sustainable security in the region, asserting that Iran advocates for the stability, welfare, and tranquility of the Pakistani people. The Iranian president expressed that Tehran seeks amicable relations with all neighboring states, emphasizing that the West Asian and South Asian regions require peace and security now more than ever.
Additionally, Pezeshkian mentioned discussions regarding the issue of Palestine, stating that both countries stand in defense of the Palestinian cause and condemn the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza, as well as the support of Western states for these actions. He called for the Islamic world to coordinate efforts for serious action against these atrocities.
At the conclusion of the press conference, President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif for his visit to Tehran, hoping that the agreements and objectives of the trip would be pursued and implemented with seriousness.
