Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the significant potential of mosques in addressing societal challenges, asserting that their resources can be effectively harnessed to tackle public issues.
During the Tuesday meeting of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, President Pezeshkian noted that mosques can play a crucial role in promoting energy conservation, especially in light of the current imbalances in electricity and gas supply.
He highlighted that there are approximately 80,000 mosques across Iran, equating to one mosque for every 1,000 people. This extensive network can be leveraged to address community challenges, transforming each mosque into a center for problem-solving.
The president also pointed out the success of grassroots school-building initiatives that operate without government funding, calling for mosques to be managed through public and charitable contributions.
In addition, during the meeting, Ali Akbar Salehi was appointed as the chairman of the Iranology Foundation, and three new members of the Supreme Council of Adolescents and Youth were also selected.
Furthermore, the national document for the development of advanced materials science and technology, which had been reviewed and approved by a designated council, was officially announced as received.
