President Masoud Pezeshkian attended a joint meeting between his government and the Iranian Parliament (Majles) on Sunday, saying that the two bodies agreed to set aside differences and join hands to resolve the country’s problems.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the meeting, President Pezeshkian emphasized that government officials and members of parliament have common concerns, although each side observes issues from a different perspective.
"We are striving to align these viewpoints and advance the implementation of policies with solidarity and a common language, as we are all seeking to solve the country's problems," the president noted.
Despite some differing viewpoints, lawmakers gave an unprecedented vote of confidence to the 14th cabinet and approved the next year budget bill, Pezeshkian said, expressing hope that this trend will continue and the cooperation between the government and parliament will increase day by day.
The president also explained that the Sunday meeting was not an open session in order to allow government officials and lawmakers to discuss issues, challenges, and any differing viewpoints transparently, and to resolve any potential misunderstanding.
In conclusion, Pezeshkian affirmed, "Certainly, not all issues can be resolved in a single meeting; this process will continue with the aim of fostering cooperation and addressing people's problems."
