Govt. making serious efforts to speed up development of Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province: Pezeshkian

Pezeshkian made the comments in a televised interview broadcast on Sistan-and-Baluchestan’s provincial TV channel on Thursday night, following his trip to the province through the day.

“We want Sistan-and-Baluchestan to be the best in every aspect”, the president said, adding that he held meetings with local officials and it was decided that funds are allocated to a number of development projects as part of efforts to resolve the problems faced by the province.

Pezeshkian noted that international experts will also help in the development of the province, as the government is working to accelerate the development of Makran coastal region as well as the north-south corridor.

President Pezeshkian said that he chose Sistan-and-Baluchestan as the first destination of the government’s provincial trip in line with his election promise of eliminating deprivation.

Sistan-and-Baluchestan is a deprived region, and the situation there should be improved, he said, adding that people must also help in order to speed up the efforts.

Further in his remarks, Pezeshkian pointed out to the improvement of Iran’s regional position in line with the 20-Year National Vision Document announced by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“In the perspective set by the Supreme Leader, Iran is supposed to be an advanced country and be at the top in the region”, Pezeshkian said, adding that the goal has not been achieved yet, but stressed that it will finally be realized if all people join hands and cooperate for the development of the country in various sectors.

“To achieve this goal, we need to work hard because it will not come for free, and we must create the conditions for the private sector to work and to establish industries that are better than similar industries in our neighboring countries,” Pezeshkian noted.
