Explaining the extensive capacities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in political, technological, economic and transit fields, the President announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and its member countries in various fields.
To mark the beginning of the second day of his visit to Uzbekistan, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi met with Zhang Ming, the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, at the hotel where he is staying. Explaining the process of the Islamic Republic of Iran's actions to become a member of the organisation, as well as the extensive capacities of Iran in political, technological, economic and transit fields.
Ayatollah Raisi announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to cooperate with the member countries as well as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the mentioned fields.
In this meeting, Zhang Ming, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation referred to the actions of the Secretariat of the organisation for the permanent membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the regional union, and stated, "Yesterday, together with Mr Amir-Abdollahian, we signed the treaty of joining Iran to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, which entails forty documents. By taking these measures, next year, Iran will participate in the Summit as a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation".
Zhang Ming stated, "Iran is a big, influential country that can play a significant role in the security of the region and the world. As a large country in the region, the Islamic Republic of Iran also has good political and commercial relations with the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, relying on the extensive historical and cultural common grounds it has with the countries of the region".
Referring to Iran's interactions with the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the past 21 years in various fields, he said, "Iran is not unknown to the members of this organisation".
