Stating that the problem of water shortage in the province today is due to a 52 percent decrease in rainfall compared to last year and the unprecedented drought caused by it along with an increase in temperature in the region, Dr Rouhani said, "Due to the shortage of the water behind dams by 50 percent, we cannot release the water behind the dams because in September and October people will have more problems".

The President pointed out, "Last year, a large part of water supply projects was carried out in different cities of Khuzestan province, and in the agricultural sector of Khuzestan, huge measures were taken to develop canals and agricultural lands in the province".

Pointing out that Khuzestan province had been grappling with dust in recent years, the President said, "The government has replaced a large part of the power transmission lines and planted trees in 46,000 hectares of dust-covered lands".

Emphasising that the problem of Khuzestan must be completely solved, Dr Rouhani said, "Protest is the clear right of the people of Khuzestan, and if we leave out a small number of people, the rest of the people protested rightfully and demanded that their problems be resolved".

The President stated, "People should know that the Ministry of Energy has invested 132 trillion Tomans in water and electricity in the last 2 years, and all these investments have been inaugurated in the last 2 years".

Dr Rouhani thanked all the engineers, workers and staff of the water and electricity industry, and said, "In the 11th and 12th governments, a lot of efforts in the field of water transfer, rural electricity and construction of water and sewage treatment plants and construction of dams, especially in border areas, as well as desalination the water of the Persian Gulf and its transfer to the east of the country has been done and such measures should continue so that the people do not have any problems in these areas".
