Cabinet agrees with Dr Hemmati's end of term as Central Bank Governor

Considering the entry of Dr Abdolnasser Hemmati in presidential elections, which prevents him from having sufficient presence in the Central Bank and fulfilling serious duties and responsibilities in sensitive areas of money and currency, the Council of Ministers agreed to the ended his term as Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Accordingly, Dr Komeijani, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, will be responsible for all duties and powers of the Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran from now on and in accordance with the law.

The Council of Ministers also thanked Dr Hemmati for his services and efforts during his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank.
