President in the meeting of Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board:

Economic development of free zones should be done by encouraging, creating economic security for private sector

The 225th session of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Board was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of President Hassan Rouhani, in which the members commemorated the late Mr Torkan and appreciated the sincere and honest services of the deceased.

Referring to the services of the late Mr Torkan during the last 4 decades in the Islamic Republic, the President said, "The late Mr Torkan was a hard-working person who serve the country in many fields, especially the economic, industrial and even the defence sector, and is the source of very important services and effects, and his absence is a sad loss for the government and the country”.

The President continued, "Economic development of free zones should be done by encouraging, creating economic security for private sector".

Dr Rouhani stated that the structure of the state economy in these areas will reduce the possibility of quality management and investment guidance and will be harmful, and added, "Strengthening the private sector not only strengthens the trust of business people, but also increases their motivation to enter these areas”.

The President said, "The prerequisite to having a proud and successful presence in world trade and export market, we need to provide a favourable environment through complying with international trade custom and regional and global organisations”.

Dr Rouhani pointed out that an important part of the provision of infrastructure in these areas is not only within the authority of the government and requires macro coordination in the field of national and regional interests and economy.

He continued, "In our foreign policy, the groundwork for removing the major barriers should be provided so that the economy of these regions are not deprived of foreign and regional capacities and opportunities”.
