Speaking in a meeting with media executives on Tuesday afternoon, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to the government's interaction with the media, and said, "The government has tried to interact with the media so that they have easier access to media tools, have complete freedom to tell the truth and be provided with the necessary data".

Referring to the important and historic achievements of the government in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) negotiations and the removal of all Security Council resolutions and the withdrawal from Chapter VII of the UN Charter, as well as the termination of the PMD case, the President said, "The reason that the people do not know the facts in these areas is the false news that the powerful media abroad and some inside the country have published".

Dr Rouhani also referred to the projects that have become possible with the JCPOA, saying that the philosophy of negotiation and dialogue between countries is the pursuit of common interests.

He said, "It is naive to think that by negotiating with the United States, Europe or any other country, they will become our friends. In negotiations, each country acts on the basis of its own interests, and if we negotiate with a country, that country is not supposed to act on the basis of our beliefs and principles, so in negotiations, we should seek common interests".

Dr Rouhani emphasised that going into extremes in any issue should not happen, adding, "I believe that the country will not be saved except through moderation".

Stating that the nuclear deal was 100 percent in the country's interest, the President said, "Of course, we may not have achieved everything we wished, but more than 80 percent of the expectations have certainly been met, in a way that we had the highest economic growth in the world after the deal in 2016, and inflation became single-digit in some cases, and it is impossible for this great achievement to remain unseen in history".

Dr Rouhani added, "Trump violated this agreement and put a lot of pressure on our country, and it is unfortunate that some people, instead of saying that the United States and Trump committed crimes, keep saying that the government has been dysfunctional".

The President said, "As we were alone in the 8-year war [with Iraq], we were alone in the 3.5-year economic war and no one was willing to buy even one oil shipment from Iran. However, the government was able to provide for the people".

Dr Rouhani continued, "During this period, we witnessed the resistance of the people along with the Supreme Leader and the government against the enemy's economic war, which was unprecedented in the history".

Referring to the problems caused by COVID-19 and the difficulty of obtaining vaccines, the President said, "Despite all the problems and difficulties, we are buying and importing vaccines with round-the-clock efforts".

At the end of the meeting, the President stressed the importance of people's high turnout in the elections and said, "We all have a duty to invite the people to go to the polls and in this regard, we hope that some behaviours will not limit people's choice".
