Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Dr Hassan Rouhani stressed the need to form special supervisory teams to increase care and full compliance with health protocols, adding, "All departments that have some kind of supervisory duty must intensify supervision to increase health care, or otherwise we cannot get past this wave".

Stating that there are laws and regulations to deal with those who endanger public health, Dr Rouhani said, "Unfortunately, the level of observance of health protocols is below 60%, while it should be above 90%".

"The next two weeks are very sensitive and we have no choice but to intensify measures in the field of care and supervision," said the President.

He also went on to state, "Purchasing the vaccine and providing the currency needed is the government's top priority today".

"Unfortunately, statistics show that people are not following the health protocols as they should and therefore, I ask them to consider it a religious duty," said Rouhani.

"Most importantly, it is our human resources who are working very hard and their ability is not unlimited, so we need to observe the protocols as much as we can," he continued.

The President also said, " Both the government and the people have responsibilities, which they need to carry out. The government has the responsibility to provide for people's essentials".

Referring to less rainfall this year, Dr Rouhani said, "I would like to thank all the ministers and those who have worked hard during the draught, so that people do not have to face other problems in these hard times".

The President also said, "Our dear people should know that in order for us to be able to provide a type of vaccine from the COVAX basket, we need at least $178 billion. Of course, we have the money, but the problem is transferring the money. This is one of the problems that the sanctions have created for us".

He also went on to state that the first priority of the government is purchasing the vaccine, saying, "I have ordered the Governor of the Central Bank to allocate foreign currency for purchasing the vaccine as the first priority".

Stating that the sanctions are a major crime that has happened in Iran's history, Dr Rouhani added, "Unfortunately, some are trying to imply that the government is to blame for all the problems, and do not want to understand what problems have sanctions made for our country's management".

The President also went on to say, "Sanctions have affected people's lives, but it seems that some still do not believe this".
