The 219th meeting of the Cabinet's Economic Coordination Board was chaired by President Dr Hassan Rouhani, in which the Minister of Agriculture Jihad and the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade presented a report on the production of agricultural products due to the decrease in rainfall in the current hydrological year and the start of the guaranteed purchase of wheat.

Referring to the government's efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat production, the President said, "While the country was under sanctions and financial pressures, the government adopted supportive policies, including increasing guaranteed purchase rates over the past eight years, achieving self-sufficiency and maintaining food security in producing the strategic crop of wheat, and this approach will continue this year".

Dr Rouhani continued, "Despite successive droughts, declining rainfall, declining aquifers and subsidence of the plains, the government was able to implement the guaranteed purchase rate in time and develop new irrigation systems, while increasing production and guaranteed purchase".

Referring to the plans and coordination made by the government regarding the clearance of essential goods and raw materials of factories, the President said, "The special conditions of the country require that the essential goods of the people and raw materials of factories be provided in time".

Dr Rouhani added, "In the past three years, when the enemies of this land sought to create a famine in the country through economic warfare, the government did not allow the enemy to fulfil this goal by providing and distributing enough goods in the country".

Referring to the pivotal role of supplying raw materials to factories in the production and livelihood of the people, the President said, "Observing the rules and legal procedures should not be an excuse for delaying the clearance of goods".

Commenting on the supply and production of vaccines in the country, the President said, "Today, mass vaccination is at the top of all government programmes and actions to protect people's health".

Dr Rouhani added, "Despite the pressures and financing problems caused by the economic war and the inhumane sanctions of the enemy, different parts of the government have tried to remove other obstacles, despite restrictions such as the lack of vaccines in the world and high demand from all countries".
