Dr Rouhani while receiving credentials of the new Ambassador of Senegal to Tehran:

Senegal can be the gateway to Iran's relations with African countries/ Tehran and Dakar have serious will to deepen relations

The President named Senegal as a very important country in West Africa, which could be the gateway to Iran's relations with African countries.

Speaking on Wednesday, while receiving the credentials of the new Ambassador of Senegal to Tehran, Dr Hassan Rouhani referred to the good and sincere relations between the two countries over the past years, and emphasised on developing and deepening political and economic relations and increasing cooperation in scientific and cultural fields, as well as technology and academia and Islamic sciences.

 The President added, "Iran and Senegal have very good grounds for developing relations, and the cooperation of the public and private sectors of the two countries is essential to achieve this goal".

The new Senegalese ambassador to Tehran, Mr Salio Dieng, presented his credentials to the President, and said that trying to increase the level of relations and deepen relations between the two countries was one of his most important goals during his mission in Iran.

He added, "Iran-Senegal relations have always been good and cordial and the two countries have many areas for strategic cooperation".
