The Iranian president appreciated all the people and entities involved in the successful launch of Iranian research satellite Chamran-1 and congratulated them on “this important achievement”.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a cabinet meeting on Sunday (September 15) that “it is fair to say that the main efforts for preparing and launching this satellite were made in the previous government.”
Pezeshkian expressed his “sincere appreciation” to all those involved in “this important achievement” within the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Science, and the knowledge-based companies cooperating in the key project.
He made the comments hours after Iran successfully launched into space Chamran-1 satellite, a domestically-made spacecraft that was placed at an orbit of 550 km above the Earth, using a satellite carrier developed by the IRGC.
“We should be grateful for the talented people who make such achievements”, the president said, adding that the talented youth must be supported and encouraged and provided with jobs so that they do not emigrate.
Also at the meeting, which took place two days after President Pezeshkian wrapped up his three-day visit to Iraq, he called on relevant officials to pursue the agreements reached during the trip, particularly the project to build a railway between Iran’s southern city of Shalamcheh and Iraqi city of Basra.
