All online messaging services active in the country are required to store their data inside the country within a year, the Supreme Council of Cyberspace approved late on Saturday.
Foreign online messaging services will also be required to transfer all data regarding Iranian citizens’ activities in these services to servers inside the country, announced the council, chaired by President Rouhani.
The council also decided that indigenous online messengers be further supported and facilities provided to them in order to promote their competitiveness.
