President Rouhani told reporters after casting his ballot early Friday: “Government considers itself as the safekeeper of people’s votes”.

President added: “Government will do its utmost to safekeep people’s votes”.

He continued: “I assure you that government, Interior Ministry and executive panels are trying to hold completely a legal election”.

“Reports show that the election is being held in full security and extensive presence of people in the entire country” continued President.

Describing elections as the symbol of political independence and national sovereignty of the country, he added: “If before the Revolution foreigners used to decide for the country, now it is people of Iran who are voting and deciding for the country”.

“People’s votes are profitable investments, results of which are strengthened national security, peace, political pride, and hopefulness about the future and economic prosperity of the country” added Dr Rouhani.

He also said: “Hope and trust are great capitals of the country that will be further strengthened through today’s votes”.

Iran’s friends around the world are eyeing Iran, continued Rouhani adding: “Any future parliament with any composition which has been elected by respected ideas of people will be respected by the government”.
