Iran's economic ties with east / China is important to Iran

President Rouhani, prior to his departure to China to attend the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), explained plans of his three-day trip.

President Rouhani said he is travelling to Shanghai upon an invitation by his Chinese counterpart.
President Hassan Rouhani said that presence of Iran in the upcoming summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is of great significance for restoration of peace and stability to the region.
He said the two presidents are to meet on the sidelines of the summit.
Noting that Tehran gives great importance to its ties with Beijing, the President said during the past couple of years, Iran has intended to promote its economic relations with eastern countries such as India, Japan and China.
Dr.Rouhani further underlined the significance of Tehran-Beijing relations, describing as “very good” Iran’s cooperation with China in the fields of trade, energy, industry, science and technology.
Given the fact that heads of 22 world countries are participating in the CICA summit, President Rouhani said he is to hold separate meetings with a number of his counterparts on the sidelines of the event.
CICA comprises of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, South Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The idea of setting up such an organization was first proposed by the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 1992. The body officially convened in 1996.
