President in a meeting with Omani deputy Prime Minister:

Mutual interests require strengthening of bilateral ties

President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday, “Mutual interests require strengthening of bilateral ties, as there are numerous capacities for promoting economic cooperation.”

In a meeting with Omani deputy Prime Minister Fahad bin Mahmoud, the president said that regional situation requires cordial relations among the nations of the region.
President Rouhani said that Iran-Oman historic relations have always been excellent and growing.
Describing the two countries’ manpower and resources as sufficient for promoting cooperation, he said that today, the two countries’ leaders are willing to promote bilateral ties.
President Rouhani said that his administration is eager to help expand mutual relations.
Referring to regional developments, the president said that disputes, bloodshed in certain countries indicate regional disorder, noting, “We as Muslim states are duty-bound to help establish peace and security in the region and we have always underlined that peace and stability will only be established by the regional countries themselves.”
President Rouhani underscored the need to safeguard security of the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea littoral states.
The Omani deputy prime minister, Fahad bin Mahmoud, for his part, described the Iranian president’s visit to Muscat as significant for promoting bilateral ties.
Iran and Oman have joint stances vis-à-vis regional issues, he said, noting that bilateral ties are brotherly and historic, which can serve as a model for regional states.
“We consider Iranian nation as a great nation and we believe that we should have interaction and dialogue with the great nation for further development of bilateral ties,” he said.
“We admit Iran’s role and influence in the region and we believe that the region cannot achieve peace and stability except through convergence among the regional states,” the Omani official noted.
