Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that his administration’s core policy is to safeguard the rights of the Iranian people while strengthening peace and security across the region, as he departed for an official visit to Pakistan.

President Pezeshkian emphasizes his administration’s commitment to Iranians’ rights, regional peace

Speaking before leaving Tehran, President Pezeshkian stated that the trip was made at the invitation of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and followed extensive diplomatic efforts by senior Pakistani officials, including Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, aimed at finalizing a key memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States.

The president expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic coordination, saying that Pakistan’s efforts in encouraging dialogue and helping move the process forward were, in some respects, even more intensive than Iran’s own expectations.

Pezeshkian emphasized that the purpose of the visit is not only to express gratitude but also to ensure full implementation of the MoU, stressing that all provisions must be carried out in accordance with international law and Iran’s legitimate rights. He said proper execution of the agreement could significantly reduce tensions and long-standing problems across the Middle East.

He further warned that ongoing aggression in the region, particularly actions of the Israeli regime against Islamic countries, continues to threaten stability. According to him, one of the central principles of the agreement is the prohibition of such aggressions, which he described as essential for establishing lasting peace.

The president added that discussions during the visit would cover a wide range of areas, including trade, economic cooperation, cultural exchange, security coordination, and defense relations.

He also highlighted expanding ties between Iran and Pakistan, as well as broader engagement with regional countries such as Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, describing this approach as aligned with the strategic guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and his administration’s diplomatic priorities.
