Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for the legal pursuit of damage caused to the country’s transport infrastructure through competent international bodies, while emphasizing the need to rebuild damaged facilities using advanced technologies and modern standards.
During a meeting with the minister, deputies and senior officials of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development in Tehran on Sunday, President Pezeshkian reviewed the latest situation of Iran’s transportation and logistics infrastructure, including border terminals, ports, road networks, railways and supply chain operations.
A comprehensive report was presented at the meeting on the condition of transportation networks, the process of supplying and distributing essential goods, customs operations, road conditions and measures taken to maintain the stability of transportation services.
Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh also provided a detailed report on damages inflicted on key infrastructure, including ports, border terminals, bridges, highways, railway networks, logistics facilities and other strategic assets following attacks by the United States.
After reviewing the extent of the damage and ongoing recovery efforts, President Pezeshkian ordered officials to accelerate reconstruction plans, activate alternative routes, strengthen the resilience of transportation networks and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services.
The Iranian president described attacks on civilian transportation infrastructure as a clear violation of international law and war crimes, stressing that the issue should be followed through relevant international organizations and legal channels.
He also highlighted the importance of expanding regional cooperation and strengthening infrastructure links with neighboring countries. The president said active diplomacy has created opportunities for broader transportation and transit cooperation, adding that completing railway connections with neighboring states could enhance economic resilience, develop international transit corridors and help Iran better utilize its geographic advantages.
President Pezeshkian further stressed that the reconstruction of damaged facilities should be based on international standards. He called for the use of advanced technologies in areas such as smart logistics, warehousing, cargo management and transportation systems to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs and enhance service quality.
He praised the continuous efforts of managers, experts and employees of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, describing the preservation of transportation network stability during difficult circumstances as a sign of commitment and effective management.
During the meeting, the president also held phone conversations with officials from the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, the Hormozgan provincial road authority and contractors involved in reconstruction operations, thanking them for their ongoing efforts to maintain and restore Iran’s transportation infrastructure.
