Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic held a phone conversation on Monday, welcoming the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the recent war imposed on Iran and emphasizing the importance of strengthening peace, stability, and bilateral cooperation.

During the call, President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Serbia’s clear positions and humanitarian assistance provided to Iran during the recent conflict. He reiterated that Tehran has always been prepared for dialogue and said the negotiation process is continuing positively.
 
The president described the Israeli regime’s aggressive policies as a major source of instability in the region, stressing that the attacks carried out by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran had failed to achieve their objectives. He said the assaults resulted in grave crimes, including the martyrdom of 168 school children in Minab and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as well as attacks on the country’s infrastructure. 
 
He also reaffirmed Iran’s support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains committed to its longstanding position regarding Serbia’s unity and would not be influenced by pressures from the European Union.
 
For his part, President Vucic offered condolences over the loss of lives during the recent conflict and announced that Serbia had sent a representative to attend the funeral ceremony of the martyred Supreme Leader. He also thanked Tehran for supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
 
Welcoming the ceasefire MoU and the continuation of diplomatic efforts, President Vucic expressed hope that ongoing talks between Iran and the United States would conclude successfully and contribute to lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
 
The Serbian president underscored Belgrade’s desire to expand ties with Tehran and voiced hope for a meeting with President Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. President Vucic also invited his Iranian counterpart to attend Expo 2027 and called for deeper economic cooperation between the two countries.
