Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed Tehran’s determination to finalize a comprehensive strategic partnership document with Armenia, emphasizing the importance of expanding economic and transit cooperation between the two neighbors.
During a meeting on Tuesday with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, President Pezeshkian said strengthening relations with neighboring countries, particularly Armenia, is a core priority of Iran’s foreign policy.
The president also stressed that deeper cooperation in political, economic, transportation, energy, and infrastructure sectors would serve the interests of both nations.
The president highlighted positive progress in economic, construction, and corridor projects, thanking Yerevan for supporting Iranian companies operating in Armenia.
He also reiterated Iran’s principled stance on regional developments, underscoring Tehran’s commitment to peace, stability, and lasting security, and welcomed the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Papikyan, for his part, described Iran–Armenia relations as strong, stable, and expanding.
He praised recent defense cooperation between the two countries and noted that growing economic and transport ties are further reinforcing bilateral relations, which are strategically important for Armenia.
