In a phone conversation on Sunday, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed hope that the two countries’ cooperation would expand further.
President Pezeshkian noted that due to his busy schedule, he is not able to accept the Saudi King's invitation to participate in a joint Arab League- Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Saudi Arabia, which is set to be held on Monday.
Pezeshkian emphasized that his First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref will attend the meeting, and “I have no doubt that under your prudence, this summit will yield effective and tangible results in stopping the crimes of the Israeli regime and the war and bloodshed in Gaza and Lebanon.”
The president also expressed hope that, given the will of the leaders of both countries, relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran would deepen and expand in all areas.
The crown prince, for his part, expressed gratitude for the phone call from the Iranian president, saying that Saudi officials fully understand the president’s conditions and wish success for “our Iranian brothers.”
"The relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are at a historic turning point, and I hope they will be elevated to the highest levels in all areas; I value the opportunity for your First Vice President's presence in Riyadh and will have discussions with him in this regard”, bin Salman said.
He reiterated his invitation for President Pezeshkian’s visit to Saudi Arabia. In response to Pezeshkian’s invitation for a visit to Iran, bin Salman said that it is an honor for him to travel to Iran, expressing hope that this happens as soon as possible.
