We should not allow economic shocks such as sanctions or the problems caused by coronavirus to slow down the pace of development and hit the household economy and the livelihood and well-being of the people, said the President, adding, "The government has attempted to develop and implement meticulous plans in two important fields of macro economy and household economy”.
Speaking on Tuesday at a meeting of the government's economic coordination board, Dr Hassan Rouhani stressed, "Although the economic shocks caused by sanctions and the spread of coronavirus in some areas have damaged the country's economy, the government has made every effort to maintain the atmosphere of development and prosperity in production and business as much as possible, and at the same time to continue to provide the goods needed by the people”.
The President mentioned the allocation of special loans at the beginning of this year for households and business owners affected by the restrictions set forth because of coronavirus outbreak, including government measures to compensate for the damage and losses inflicted on the people, and instructed the ministries of Welfare and Economy, and the Central Bank and the Plan and Budget Organisation to pursue and implement new plans for loans for the purchase of goods for employees, retirees and those with fixed incomes.
Emphasising that the supply of essential goods needed by the people and controlling and managing their prices is the first priority of the government, Dr Rouhani said, "The government has not allowed -and will not allow- the provision of basic goods to cause concern to the people and in this regard related agencies, with regular planning will act in coordination”.
The President further noted, "As it has not allowed the problems and difficulties to disrupt the country's economic programs, the government will try to present next year's budget bill to the parliament with coordination and effective measures, according to the realities ahead”.
