President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on Iran’s newly appointed ambassadors to pursue diplomatic engagement, strengthen bilateral relations and ensure the implementation of agreements with their host countries.
President Pezeshkian made the remarks on Tuesday at a farewell ceremony for Iran’s incoming ambassadors to Kyrgyzstan, New Zealand, Japan, Burkina Faso and Cyprus, wishing them success in their diplomatic assignments.
He stressed that Iranian diplomatic missions should actively pursue constructive engagement despite obstacles, restrictions and attempts to undermine diplomatic efforts, making full use of available opportunities to expand bilateral relations and joint cooperation.
The president emphasized that ambassadors’ responsibilities should extend beyond political contacts to include identifying mutual capacities and facilitating the implementation of existing agreements and memorandums of understanding.
He said economic, trade, scientific and cultural cooperation, along with other areas of mutual interest, should feature prominently in their diplomatic agendas.
President Pezeshkian also called for the effective use of regional and international organizations to promote cooperation with host countries, highlighting the importance of engaging the private sector and business communities in expanding economic and commercial ties.
He said Iranian diplomatic missions should develop a thorough understanding of the economic, scientific and cultural potential of their host countries and facilitate effective connections between government institutions, businesses and private-sector actors on both sides.
During the ceremony, Iran’s ambassadors outlined cooperation opportunities in their respective countries and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the government’s foreign policy and expanding bilateral relations.
The newly appointed envoys are Zahra Saei to Kyrgyzstan, Hamid Nirabadi to New Zealand, Mohammadreza Nazeri to Japan, Hossein Taghdar to Burkina Faso and Mohsen Shamsizadeh to Cyprus.
