Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described unity among Muslim nations and stronger regional cooperation as strategic necessities for safeguarding security and stability, saying solidarity would prevent the Israeli regime from pursuing its objectives in the region.

Unity among Muslim countries guarantees regional security, stability: Iran president

President Pezeshkian made the remarks on Tuesday, while receiving the credentials of Ahmet Aydin Dogan, Turkey’s newly appointed ambassador to Iran.

Describing Tehran-Ankara relations as close, brotherly and rooted in shared historical, cultural and religious ties, the president said bilateral relations had continued to grow. He stressed that the sensitive regional situation made stronger cooperation between the two neighboring countries increasingly important.

President Pezeshkian said the Israeli regime commits crimes and genocide and seeks to create divisions among Muslim countries to advance its objectives. He said these goals targeted not just one country but the entire Muslim world, adding that the Israeli regime continued its actions with the backing of the United States and certain European countries, while much of the international community remained largely a spectator.

He argued that greater unity among Islamic nations, alongside expanded economic, political, scientific and cultural cooperation, would strengthen regional security and limit the Israeli regime’s ability to pursue its plans.

Referring to acts of aggression against Iran, President Pezeshkian said those responsible had failed to achieve their objective of bringing down the country through military action and were now seeking to pressure the Iranian people economically. He said such pressure would not break the nation's resolve.

The president also referred to his proposal for closer regional coordination at a four-party meeting of regional security officials, emphasizing cooperation based on shared interests.

The ambassador, for his part, pledged to work toward implementing bilateral agreements, completing joint projects and expanding cooperation. Conveying Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s greetings to President Pezeshkian and the Iranian people, the ambassador described his diplomatic mission in Iran as an honor.
