In a message issued on Monday, President Pezeshkian extended his congratulations to the Iranian people, the wrestlers, the wrestling community, coaches, technical staff and everyone involved in the sport.

He said the team’s triumph followed the success of Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling team, highlighting the country’s potential to achieve further victories on the international stage.

The president said the athletes’ series of successes demonstrated that Iran’s valuable human resources, outstanding talent and spirit of sportsmanship, combined with sustained effort, coaches’ expertise and adequate support, could deliver top-level results in global competitions.

President Pezeshkian also described the world titles won by both Iran’s freestyle and Greco-Roman teams as evidence of the country’s considerable sporting potential.

He expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the latest achievement and voiced hope that stronger sports infrastructure and greater support for young talent would help sustain Iran’s success in international competitions.

The Iranian U23 freestyle team won the world title in Las Vegas with nine medals — four gold, one silver and four bronze medals — collecting 180 points to finish ahead of Russia, which scored 171 points, and the United States, which placed third with 104 points.

The result added to Iran’s success in Greco-Roman wrestling and underscored the country’s strong showing at the world championships.

President Pezeshkian expressed hope that Iranian athletes would continue to shine internationally and bring further honors to the country.
