Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev reviewed the state of bilateral relations and ongoing cooperation, reaffirming their countries’ friendly and neighborly ties and emphasizing the need to leverage existing capacities to further expand and deepen cooperation.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit and a summit on the Caspian Sea environment in Turkmenistan on Friday.

The two presidents reviewed the latest developments in relations between Tehran and Baku, emphasizing their friendly ties and good-neighborly relations. They highlighted the need to make greater use of existing capacities to deepen cooperation across various fields.

The two sides also stressed the importance of accelerating the implementation of previously reached agreements, completing ongoing joint projects and strengthening opportunities for mutual cooperation.

The talks underscored the two countries’ shared commitment to expanding bilateral engagement in areas of common interest, particularly economic and trade relations, transit and regional cooperation.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of continued consultations and constructive dialogue between their officials to advance shared objectives and further strengthen friendly relations between Tehran and Baku.
