Public service, national unity key to defeating economic war against Iran: President Pezeshkian

Speaking at a nationwide meeting with commanders of the Islamic Republic of Iran Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA) on Thursday, President Pezeshkian said the force had proved to be a source of national pride, a strong defensive shield and a symbol of Iran’s dignity during the recent imposed wars.

The president praised police forces for their role during the conflicts, saying their resistance, together with that of the armed forces and public support, helped thwart efforts to destabilize the country.

He said the adversary had sought to create domestic unrest by targeting the country’s leadership, military and security commanders, as well as police facilities. Police forces stood firm, defended the country and foiled their plans, he said, praising police personnel for their round-the-clock efforts.

President Pezeshkian also highlighted the public’s support for security forces, saying Iranians had remained committed to their country despite economic difficulties. He said the government would respond to external economic pressure by expanding public services and addressing people’s needs.

The military war is visible, but the economic war is not, and it is far more difficult and heavy, President Pezeshkian said, stressing that the government was determined to overcome economic pressure through service and cooperation with the public.

The president also called for more efficient energy consumption, saying a 10-percent reduction in consumption could generate significant savings and reduce the need for energy imports. He praised police efforts to combat fuel smuggling and said a nationwide expansion of a car-free day initiative could save around 10 million liters of fuel a day.

President Pezeshkian urged security authorities to adopt preventive approaches to social tensions and make greater use of neighborhood and mosque-based initiatives. He described the country’s 80,000 mosques as a potential local network for addressing social needs and supporting community security.

He also stressed that energy supplies to production must be protected, arguing that keeping industries operating was essential to preserving employment and reducing social pressures.

President Pezeshkian called for greater coordination among the government, parliament, judiciary, armed forces and security institutions, saying national unity was essential to overcoming external pressure.

He concluded by thanking Chief Commander of the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad-Reza Radan for their cooperation with the government.
