Iran, Thailand can expand ties across economy, science, technology: President Pezeshkian

Speaking at a ceremony to receive the credentials of Thailand’s new ambassador to Iran Sake Nopthaisong, President Pezeshkian expressed hope that the ambassador’s tenure would help broaden bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields.

The president said Iran was ready to expand relations with Thailand, stressing that stronger cooperation could benefit both countries. He added that a historical perspective could help further consolidate the longstanding ties between the two nations.

President Pezeshkian also highlighted the role of ambassadors in developing relations between countries. He said ambassadors can facilitate trade links, strengthen solidarity and interaction between peoples, and create opportunities for the two sides to share their capabilities and potential.

Amnbassador Nopthaisong said he was honored to begin his diplomatic mission in Iran, describing the country as a land with a great civilization.

The new ambassador said he had been tasked by Thailand’s top officials with further developing the friendly and understanding relations between the two countries.

Delivering the Thai King Vajiralongkorn’s good wishes to President Pezeshkian, the ambassador referred to the historical roots of Iran-Thailand relations, saying the relationship dates back thousands of years to the era of the Persian Empire.

He said Thailand would seek to continue that historical path and further expand bilateral relations.

The ambassador also referred to President Pezeshkian’s speech at the United Nations, saying he had personally been impressed by the Iranian president’s address.

Ambassador Nopthaisong assured President Pezeshkian that Thailand would stand with the Iranian people during difficult circumstances and expressed his country’s solidarity with Iran.

Increasing bilateral trade, he said, would be one of his most important missions as ambassador. He pledged to use all his efforts to fulfill that objective and expand the volume of commercial exchanges between Iran and Thailand.
