President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for effective steps to consolidate and expand bilateral relations between Iran and Denmark, saying greater economic, scientific and cultural engagement can help deepen ties between Tehran and Copenhagen.

President Pezeshkian urges new steps to deepen Iran-Denmark relations

Speaking at a ceremony to receive the credentials of Denmark’s new ambassador to Iran, Christian Atzen, President Pezeshkian said Iran was ready to broaden bilateral interaction and cooperation with Denmark.

The president described the Iranian people as historically peace-loving and committed to peace, stability, constructive communication and sound relations with other countries. Denmark, he said, is among the countries with which Iran seeks to expand relations and engagement.

President Pezeshkian also addressed perceptions of Iran in some European countries, saying the image that has emerged in parts of Europe does not reflect realities in Iran. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Atzen would be able to experience Iranian society, culture and civilization firsthand during his mission and help convey a more accurate and realistic picture of the country.

Iran welcomes cooperation, experience-sharing and partnerships with different countries, including Denmark, in economic, scientific and cultural fields, President Pezeshkian said. Expanding engagement in these areas, he added, could provide a basis for deepening relations and strengthening bilateral ties.

The president expressed hope that Atzen would take effective steps toward consolidating and developing Iran-Denmark relations during his mission in Tehran and succeed in expanding cooperation between the two countries across various fields.

Atzen, for his part, expressed satisfaction with beginning his diplomatic mission in Iran, saying he had been impressed by the country’s civilization, history and distinctive culture.

The Danish ambassador stressed his responsibility to convey the realities of Iran to his country, pledging to provide an accurate, realistic and fair account of Iran. He said he was committed to fulfilling that responsibility with complete sincerity.

Atzen also expressed hope that he could contribute effectively to developing and deepening bilateral relations and help identify new areas for cooperation.

He said Denmark was committed to multilateralism and the rule of law in international relations, adding that his diplomatic mission would be guided by these principles.

The ambassador said he would seek to strengthen mutual understanding and contribute to expanding relations and interaction between Iran and Denmark within the framework of his diplomatic responsibilities.
