President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged Iran’s newly appointed ambassadors to promote friendship, brotherhood and unity while avoiding religious disputes, as they work to advance national interests and broaden ties with their host countries.
Addressing a ceremony to introduce and bid farewell to Iran’s new ambassadors to the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Italy, Uganda and Senegal, President Pezeshkian said their missions should focus on defending national interests, expanding multilateral relations and, in particular, strengthening economic exchanges.
He also called on the ambassadors to help create an environment for broader scientific, cultural, economic, sports and artistic cooperation, while deepening cultural and multilateral ties with neighboring and other countries.
Citing Islamic traditions, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of friendship and Islamic solidarity, urging Muslim countries to reduce tensions and avoid disputes. Stronger cooperation among regional states and neighbors, the president said, could eventually pave the way for a joint Islamic assembly that would contribute to development and security in the region.
He also described Islamic unity as essential in confronting hostility from the Israeli regime and called for greater regional cohesion. The region possessed abundant wealth and resources, he said, adding that countries should help one another advance culturally, politically and economically.
President Pezeshkian also said overcoming self-interest was a prerequisite for unity among Muslim and regional countries. He said followers of the Abrahamic faiths share a form of religious commonality and should pursue a God-centered path.
The president further instructed cultural advisers to promote Iranian and Islamic culture and civilization and focus on serving people in their host societies.
During the ceremony, Hamidreza Dehghani, Mahmoud Heydari, Ali-Akbar Rezaei, Reza Nourian and Hamid Moradkhani were introduced as Iran’s new ambassadors to the UAE, Greece, Italy, Uganda and Senegal, respectively.
Each ambassador also outlined their planned strategies and missions for expanding multilateral relations and cooperation with their respective host countries.
