Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has emphasized that pressure and the use of force cannot make the Iranian people surrender to unlawful demands, stressing dialogue, international law and respect for nations' rights.
resident Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two heads of state discussed the latest regional and international developments and the consequences of the war waged by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
They reviewed the dimensions and consequences of recent developments, including the impact of continued conflict and insecurity on the West Asia region and the international community, and stressed the need to prevent the war from spreading, reduce tensions and pursue political solutions.
President Pezeshkian highlighted the Iranian people's strong defense against foreign aggression and pressure, saying such measures could not force Iran to accept unlawful demands. He stressed the Islamic Republic's commitment to international laws and regulations, respect for peoples' rights and national sovereignty, and said disputes should be resolved through dialogue and political means.
The Iranian president also called for international efforts to prevent further escalation and create conditions for restoring stability and security in the region.
Prime Minister Store expressed concern over continuing insecurity and tensions, saying instability in the Strait of Hormuz could have far-reaching consequences for countries around the world.
He expressed hope that the crisis would end soon, emphasized diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and restore regional stability, and said Norway was ready to help overcome the current situation.
