Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for closer economic and bilateral cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in trade, energy, tourism, investment, as well as in cultural and scientific fields.
President Pezeshkian made the remarks on Monday during a meeting in Tehran with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, expressing satisfaction with the growing ties between the two countries. He stressed the importance of joint investment, stronger connections between the two sides, and facilitating economic cooperation.
The president said Iran and Pakistan are powerful regional countries with significant human resources and abundant natural capacities, adding that by combining their capabilities, the two countries could meet many of their needs through domestic and regional potential.
President Pezeshkian also said growing interaction among Islamic countries had created opportunities for greater convergence, noting that he believed that US actions and pressure had contributed to greater convergence and continued interaction among Islamic countries.
He also pointed to frequent meetings and consultations between Iranian and Pakistani delegations as an example. The president expressed hope that bilateral cooperation would continue expanding across various fields.
Naqvi, for his part, stressed the importance of further upgrading relations between Tehran and Islamabad. The Pakistani minister said he believed bilateral ties had never reached the level they currently enjoy.
The minister said Islamabad was determined to further develop cooperation with Iran in trade, economic affairs, tourism, political relations, culture and science. He also briefed the Iranian president on the latest developments in bilateral cooperation and interactions across various sectors.
Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to continue and strengthen bilateral cooperation in multiple areas.
