Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to the government and people of Iraq for hosting and holding a magnificent funeral ceremony for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
In a message addressed to Iraqi officials and the Iraqi nation on Friday, President Pezeshkian thanked the country’s president, prime minister, senior authorities, religious leaders, and especially the great and civilized people of Iraq for their warm reception and hospitality. He said the way the funeral procession was conducted reflected Iraq’s Islamic and Arab dignity.
The Iranian president emphasized that such a noble gesture stemmed from devotion to Imam Ali (PBUH) and Imam Hussein (PBUH) and highlighted the deep spiritual and historical bonds shared by the two neighboring nations.
He added that the martyred Leader had always stressed the importance of brotherhood between the peoples and governments of Iran and Iraq.
President Pezeshkian said the Iranian people would never forget the support shown by Iraq, nor the powerful scenes and moments witnessed during the large funeral procession.
He also voiced hope that, relying on the profound ties of brotherhood, culture, and religion between the two countries, bilateral relations would continue to expand and deepen in the years ahead.
