Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has expressed gratitude to the leaders of Pakistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia, and Turkmenistan for attending the funeral ceremony of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and extending condolences to the Iranian nation.

President Pezeshkian commends regional leaders for funeral attendance, calls for closer ties

In separate messages, President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the ceremony with a high-ranking delegation, saying the support and solidarity shown by the government and people of Pakistan would never be forgotten by the Iranian nation.

The Iranian president noted that Tehran and Islamabad have always shared each other’s joys and hardships and voiced hope that bilateral relations would continue to expand on the basis of their deep brotherly ties. He added that the martyred Leader consistently valued relations with Pakistan and regarded the two countries’ shared cultural heritage as an important asset.

In a separate message to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, President Pezeshkian thanked him for participating in the farewell ceremony and offering condolences, describing the gesture as a lasting milestone in the historical relations between the two nations.

He emphasized that the martyred Leader had attached special importance to Persian-speaking countries and neighboring states in Iran’s foreign policy and said the historical, cultural, linguistic, and religious bonds between Iran and Tajikistan provide a strong foundation for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Addressing Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, President Pezeshkian thanked him for attending the ceremony and conveying the condolences of the Georgian government and people. He described the gesture as another enduring chapter in the 3,000-year history of relations between the two countries and expressed hope for broader cooperation based on mutual respect and regional economic ties.

In his message to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Iranian president thanked him and the accompanying delegation for their participation and solidarity, stressing that Iran would not forget Armenia’s goodwill. He reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to strengthening relations built on shared interests, good neighborliness, and mutual respect.

President Pezeshkian also thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, for attending the ceremony and extending condolences. Recalling the martyred Leader’s statement that Iran-Turkmenistan relations are beyond neighborly ties and are rooted in kinship, the president reaffirmed Iran’s determination to further develop friendly and brotherly relations with Ashgabat.
