Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation across the Islamic world and expand bilateral relations between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur during a phone conversation held on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
On Tuesday, President Pezeshkian congratulated the Malaysian government and people on the Islamic holiday, describing Eid al-Adha as a time filled with goodness, blessings, and divine mercy. He expressed hope that the occasion’s spiritual blessings would embrace all Muslim nations, particularly the people of Iran and Malaysia.
Referring to the prominent place of unity and solidarity in Islamic teachings, the Iranian president said greater cohesion within the Muslim ummah, reinforced by the message of Eid al-Adha, could help shape a collective will to halt crimes committed by the Israeli regime and the United States.
He also praised the Malaysian prime minister’s firm position regarding Israeli and US aggressions, calling it valuable, and thanked PM Ibrahim for his efforts aimed at advancing global peace.
President Pezeshkian underlined the importance of further developing ties between the two countries, noting that broad relations have existed for many years and can be expanded across economic, cultural, and social fields.
The Iranian president also invited the Malaysian prime minister to visit Tehran to follow up on agreements and help accelerate cooperation.
For his part, PM Ibrahim thanked President Pezeshkian for the cordial call and extended Eid greetings to the Iranian government and people. He prayed that the blessed occasion would bring goodness, victory, and prosperity to the Islamic ummah, especially Iran and Malaysia.
Emphasizing the necessity of Muslim solidarity in the face of oppression and wrongdoing, PM Ibrahim said he hoped Muslims would act in unison and stand firm against their adversaries.
He also expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of Iranian politician Kamal Kharrazi, whom he described as a close personal friend with whom he shared a deep and sincere bond.
