Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Nizar Amidi on his election as the new President of Iraq, expressing hope for the further expansion of bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
In a message on Saturday addressed to his Iraqi counterpart, President Pezeshkian described Iraq as a friendly, brotherly and neighboring country and said the election reflects the trust of Iraq’s parliament and its people in Amidi’s capabilities and leadership.
The Iranian president highlighted the deep historical, cultural and religious ties between Iran and Iraq, describing the two nations as influential countries in the region and the Islamic world.
He noted that these longstanding connections constitute a valuable foundation for strengthening cooperation and advancing mutual interests.
The Iranian president expressed confidence that during Amidi’s presidency, and with the existing political will in both countries, bilateral cooperation will further expand across various sectors.
President Pezeshkian also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two countries in promoting regional peace, stability and development.
At the end of his message, President Pezeshkian wished the new Iraqi president good health and success in his responsibilities and expressed his hopes for prosperity, dignity and well-being for the Iraqi people.
