Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev discussed regional developments following the recent aggression by the US and Israeli regime and the announcement of a ceasefire during a phone conversation on Wednesday.

President Pezeshkian thanked the president, government, and people of Azerbaijan for their messages of sympathy and solidarity with Iran during the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Referring to the recently established ceasefire, the Iranian president said it could serve as a basis for negotiations aimed at permanently ending the conflict and ensuring that acts of aggression are not repeated in the region.

President Aliyev, for his part, welcomed the ceasefire and described the halt in fighting as an important step toward achieving peace and stability in the region. He expressed hope that the continuation of the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace and stability.

The Azerbaijani president also emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.

Both presidents highlighted the need to maintain contacts between the two countries and stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation.
