Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev held a phone conversation on Thursday, discussing recent developments and rising tensions involving the United States and the Israeli regime.

During the call, President Pezeshkian briefed President Aliyev on the latest developments regarding the US and Israeli military assault on Iran, noting that the attacks targeted schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure.

The Iranian president noted that Iran had been engaged in negotiations with the United States at the time of the escalation and emphasized that the Islamic Republic remains determined to defend itself using all available capacities.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he also expressed appreciation for the sympathy and support shown by the government and people of Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev, for his part, highlighted the negative consequences of conflict on regional security and stability. He expressed hope that peace and stability would be restored to the region as soon as possible.

The two presidents also discussed the continuation and expansion of bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
