Iran determined to continue legitimate defense against any aggression: President Pezeshkian

President Pezeshkian and his Iraqi counterpart Abdul Latif Rashid held a phone call to discuss regional developments following recent military aggressions by the US and Israeli regimes against Iran.

During the conversation, President Pezeshkian praised the remarkable and historic resistance of the Iranian people and the country’s armed forces in the face of the aggression. He stressed that Iran remains firmly determined to continue its legitimate and decisive defense against any aggression.

The Iranian president also thanked the Iraqi government, people, and religious authorities for their support for Iran and for their messages of condolence following the martyrdom of senior Iranian figures and citizens in the recent aggressions.

President Pezeshkian warned that the United States and the Israeli regime are seeking to sow division among Muslim countries and urged regional nations to remain vigilant against such efforts, including the use of terrorist groups or neighboring territories for attacks on Iran.

He reiterated Iran’s right to self-defense, including targeting US bases and facilities that were the source of attacks on Iranian territory. The president also expressed hope that Muslim countries in the region could move toward peace and stability without foreign interference.

For his part, President Rashid condemned the US and Israeli attacks on Iran and expressed Iraq’s solidarity with the Iranian people. He described the war against Iran as an action against all Muslim nations in the region and reaffirmed Iraq’s opposition to the conflict, stressing that Iraqi territory would not be used for attacks on Iran.
