President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated Iran’s national Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling teams for their outstanding performances at the United World Wrestling (UWW) 2026 Zagreb Open in Croatia.
In a message issued on Monday, the Iranian president praised the Greco-Roman team for winning the championship title and the freestyle team for securing the runner-up position in the prestigious international competition.
President Pezeshkian described the achievements as a clear demonstration of the talent, self-belief, and high capabilities of Iranian athletes.
He emphasized that these results show Iranian wrestling continues to progress and flourish by relying on knowledge, discipline, and the traditional spirit of chivalry that defines the sport in the country.
The president extended his congratulations to the Iranian nation, the wrestling community, athletes, coaches, and technical staff, expressing appreciation for the efforts of everyone involved.
